The Avelino Lara Legacy
Avelino Lara was Born in Havana on March 20, 1921. Lara worked in the cigar business all his life, he trained and mastered the art of a torcedore at a young age. Once Fidel Castro’s personal roller, Lara was famous for his creations at the El Laguito Factory outside of Havana, where he created blends for Cohiba and Davidoff, among others.
In 1996 Lara having retired from El Laguito, moved to Nassau to roll cigars at Graycliff Restaurant. His cigars were such a success, that Graycliff officially began the Graycliff Cigar Company to sell and market the cigars. Avelino [who passed away in October 2009] will be greatly missed. Lara’s passion is continued at the Graycliff Cigar Company through his son, Abel, and the other torcedores. You can find more information on this on www.graycliff.com.
Our History
Hoora Angela Mostashari and her son, Iman, met Enrico Garzaroli, Chairman and founder of Graycliff Cigars, and his son, Paolo Grazaroli who is now the President of Graycliff Cigars and was introduced through them to Avelina Lara and Able Lara, the master blenders of Graycliff Cigars and they all celebrated Avelina Lara's 80th Birthday at an after party in Tampa, Florida in 2001 when Angela requested for them to produce a private blend for Aficionado's Cigars and Gifts, retail tobacco shop, (which later renamed to Club Aficionado Cigar & Wine, In Lake Forest, Ca.), with a Costa Rican/Nicaraguan and Honduran mixed blend.
However, due to various life events, this project left uncompleted till 2007, and then recently resumed resulting in process to be completed for "Godmother Cigars Inc." for Angela Mostashari. Therefore, the birth of Godmother Cigars, resumed using a Triple Fermented 2007 Tobacco from Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua. Godmother Cigars are presented in two lines of Gold and Silver, and in 3 sizes. These Cigars are made in Nassau Bahamas, at Graycliff Cigar factory.
Godmother Cigars Silver Cigars
This Ultra Premium Cigar truly is a Superior Product, also referred to as "Top Leaf", because it is made with the highest qualities of tobacco leaf. A beautifully balanced cigar with deep flavors, produced with super selected and aged tobacco from Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua, this unique cigar is extremely delicious, Godmother Silver Line is a very rich flavored, and Full Bodied Cigar has lots of complex flavors made for true Connoisseurs who regularly smoke Cuban Cigars. This cigar has a hint of espresso, and has a lot of kick to it, however it is very smooth for such a strong cigar. This cigar is also made with Triple Fermented Tobacco of 2007 and cured for 12 months, made in Nassau, Bahamas. The Godmother Cigars Silver Line is currently available in 3 most popular sizes and will soon expand to more bigger size gauges.

The Gold Grand Cru is made in 3 sizes currently and will expand soon to larger ring gauges. These Cigars are made in Bahamas, at Graycliff Cigar factory.
